The Clinical Skills Lab at Macclesfield Hospital

At Macclesfield District General Hospital we have a modern and well equipped Clinical Skills Laboratory which provides a safe environment to facilitate both the teaching and learning of clinical skills.

In addition we have a simulation suite with a range of mannequins. We run simulation sessions for a range of staff including student and qualified nurses and doctors, there are multidisciplinary sessions and they incorporate topics such as acute medicine, surgery, communication including breaking bad news, and mental health including dementia, self-harm and alcoholism.

Macclesfield is one of the few hospitals in the country that blends skills training with simulation to provide the best teaching outcomes. Through 2016 simulation will diversify further to incorporate healthcare assistants and pharmacy students.
