There are a wide choice of primary and secondary schools in the Cheshire area, the majority of which have been rated outstanding or good by Ofsted. Education services in the county are provided by the four unitary authorities; Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Halton Borough Council and Warrington Borough Council.


Cheshire is home to a number of Colleges providing a wide range of study options for students in high quality facilities. Whether A-levels, apprenticeships,technical baccalaureate or adult learning, there is something for everyone. 


There are two Universities in Cheshire which offer a wide range of diploma, degree, postgraduate and professional subjects on a full and part-time basis.The University of Chester, one of the oldest universities in England (founded in 1839), is based on three campuses in Chester and one in Warrington, while Manchester Metropolitan University's Cheshire Campus is based in Crewe.
