COVID-19 guidance re accessing services for children - April 2020

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has produced this simple one-page guide to remind parents and carers of the health services they should access irrespective of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our children’s services team provides care for all children and young people with medical conditions such as asthma, allergy, diabetes, cardiac, coeliac, endocrine, epilepsy  and developmental disorders. We also provide surgical care for children over two years for ENT (ear nose and throat) surgery and over eight years for general and orthopaedic surgery.

Young people with specific medical conditions or complex health needs can be cared for up to 18 years; after which the patient can access our adult services.

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s (CWP) nationally recognised Child and Adolescent Mental Health website MyMind has been refreshed and relaunched.

MyMind is our dedicated website for young people across Cheshire and Wirral experiencing mental health difficulties. With support from local young people from CWP’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), MyMind has now been given a modern makeover.

MyMind 2.0 has been designed using the national THRIVE model and gives focus to the key topics identified as most important to young people and their families: how to cope with mental health challenges, how to get help and what to do in a crisis.

The site includes a dedicated training section for healthcare professionals, as well as a host of interactive resources around the topics of Mood, Lifestyle and Relationships.

Originally launched in 2011, MyMind has won a litany of accolades over the years (including Health Service Journal Value in Healthcare and Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards) and been accessed by hundreds of thousands of people across the region and beyond.
