Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Department

The primary function of Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Department (HSDU) is the decontamination, inspection and sterilisation of re-useable medical devices for use by the trust and various external community clinics. HSDU also provides a "soft pack" service and distribution service for a range sterile medical device consumables and products.

HSDU is accredited to Medical Device Directive 93/42/EC, as an independent medical device reprocessing facility whose activities are governed by a quality management system which is fully compliant to BS EN ISO 13485:2003 and BS EN ISO 9001:2008
