Our Paediatric Unit consists of 23 beds providing quality care for children, young people and family in a holistic manner and in the most appropriate setting either in hospital or at home. We have a number of specialist nurses supporting children with conditions such as asthma, epilepsy and diabetes alongside the general Children’s Community Team who provide care in the child's or young person’s home allowing for their actual hospital stay to be as brief as possible. There is a specific paediatric observation area where GP’s, A&E can refer children for observation over a short period of time without having to be admitted.
Our unit is family friendly and we welcome and encourage you to be with your child during their stay, however we recognise that it can be tiring and stressful so we have a room and kitchen set aside for parents and relatives to use 24 hours a day. Family and friends are free to visit during the day and evening.
The friendly nursing team consists of qualified children’s nurses, qualified nurses and health care assistants who work alongside members of a multi-disciplinary team such as play therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians who may be involved in your child’s care.
