Oncology Research Team
Who are we?
We are a small team specialising in cancer research at Macclesfield District General Hospital. We consist of five oncology research sisters, responsible for running clinical trials and three clinical trials administrators, providing general administrative support and trial data collection.
What do we do?
The job of the Oncology Research Team is to set up and run cancer clinical trials at Macclesfield District General Hospital so that patients do not have to travel to Christie Hospital to be offered the chance to take part in research. Cancer clinical trials are carried out on large groups of patients to try to find new and better treatments for cancer. They are the only reliable way to find out if a new treatment is better than what is already available.
