Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) service is a nurse –led service, which offers specialist advice, education/support, treatments and monitoring for patients with an inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative colitis.

Our service covers

  • Support, education and advice to all patients with a new or known diagnosis of IBD. This to include all aspects of IBD management to include diagnosis, medication, nutrition, lifestyle advice, psychological wellbeing, surgical and medical treatment options.
  • Medication management, monitoring and education; including a fully comprehensive biologics service
  • Liaison with wider members of multidisciplinary team including gastroenterologists, primary care (GP), endoscopy, radiology, dieticians
  • Management of an IBD multidisciplinary team meeting to discuss treatment plans
  • Urgent relapse advice to include urgent telephone and urgent face-to-face review slots in clinic
  • Six IBD nurse led face-to-face outpatient clinics per week over 4 days, for follow up appointments
  • An IBD nurse led telephone advice line (please see below)
  • An IBD nurse led email support service (please see below)
