Our services

Macmillan lung cancer nurses

The Macmillan lung cancer nurses are part of the Respiratory Team based here at Macclesfield District General Hospital. We work in partnership with respiratory, oncology and palliative care consultants, hospital and community staff and other health care professionals. The lung cancer nurses are clinical nurse specialists who are able to offer support, information and advice for all those affected by lung cancer and mesothelioma.

What do we do?

We provide emotional support, information and advice on all aspects of lung cancer and Mesothelioma, for patients, families and carers, from time of diagnosis, during and on completion of treatment. We also support patients and families through palliative care and have close links with community teams and the East Cheshire Hospice.

The lung cancer nurses provide nurse led clinics, support patients at outpatient appointments for both respiratory and oncology, home visits and facilitate a support group for patients and families for continual support with symptom control.

The lung cancer nurses can also provide support and information on financial issues and where appropriate can refer patients for additional support for example counselling or complementary therapies.
