Our services

Information Support Services

The Information and Support Service within the Macmillan Centre is designed to help anyone affected by cancer. You do not have to be a cancer patient. Our aim is to offer information about many topics including:

  • Cancer awareness raising.
  • Specific cancer type information.
  • Information about diagnosis, treatment, side effects and survivorship.
  • Information about travel insurance, benefits and diet.
  • Local and national support groups.
Tea making

We also offer emotional support on a one to one basis either by telephone or in person, in a relaxing and comfortable environment. All enquiries will be treated confidentially.

Other services we offer

Other services offered to patients and their carers within the centre include:

  • Complementary therapies: Currently we offer reflexology, holistic facial and aromatherapy. Our complementary therapists work throughout the week and offer sessions free of charge to patients and relatives at the centre.
  • Counselling: Cancer can lead to a wide variety of problems for the patient and their family or carers. This can include issues resulting from the diagnosis, treatment and worries about the future. It offers you an opportunity to work with someone who is impartial and who respects your values, background and lifestyle to offer you an increased awareness of the possible range of responses to your situation. Our counsellors work throughout the week offering free sessions to patients and relatives at the Centre.
  • Hair loss: The centre provides practical help for people suffering hair loss and sells a wide variety of appropriate head gear as well as holding a weekly wig fitting service. We also have links with hair stylists, particularly trained in cutting and trimming wigs for your individual look.
