Dermatology

The Dermatology Department, based at Macclesfield District General Hospital, offers consultant led outpatient dermatology services for the treatment of skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, and for the early diagnosis and management of skin cancer. Services include ultraviolet therapy, patch testing, dermatological surgery, and photodynamic therapy.

The team provides patient education in relation to the management of chronic dermatological problems in an environment where the needs of each patient and their family are cared for in a professional and holistic manner.

Specialist services

  • Patch testing
  • Prick testing
  • Dermoscopy of pigmented lesions.
  • Outpatient and day case surgery for cutaneous malignancies, benign tumours, diagnostic biopsies.
  • Photodynamic therapy for treatment of selected cutaneous malignancies and pre-malignant conditions.
  • Phototherapy (UVB) and photo chemotherapy (PUVA) for treatment of inflammatory dermatoses.
  • Nurse led clinics for management of eczema and psoriasis.
